The big picture
Brampton's official plan to 2051 sends about 95% of new home growth to multi-unit housing in urban areas rather than new low-density subdivisions. The Province's target for Brampton is 113,000 new homes by 2031; the city built 4,759 units in 2025, about 42% of the yearly pace needed.
The growth areas
| Area | What's planned | Stage |
|---|---|---|
| Uptown Brampton | High-density hub around Hurontario and Steeles, LRT terminus | Planned |
| Shoppers World | About 5,000 homes on 58 acres replacing the mall | Planned |
| Downtown & Riverwalk | Flood protection unlocking housing for about 17,700 residents | Under construction |
| Heritage Heights | About 132,000 residents and 54,300 jobs | Approved |
| Mount Pleasant | Higher density around Mount Pleasant GO | Building out |
| Gore Meadows | 185 ha, singles to 22-storey towers | Approved |

How buyers use this
Infrastructure takes years, and prices near a planned station move in stages: when a plan is approved, when construction starts and when service opens. Buying near a confirmed, funded project is lower risk than buying on an announcement. See every growth area with its timeline.
